Great post Spencer. In our chat conversation at CMConnect the other day we talked a lot about this (Here's the archive - http://my.cmconnect.org/profiles/blogs/chat-archive-topic-leadership). Some people don't see themselves as leaders and we made the point that Jesus modelled SERVANT leadership. If we are serving in the Church then we are leading someone... we don't have to get all weird about calling it leadership and it doesn't have to look like Clint Eastwood... but, serving is following Jesus' example of leadership.

All of that being said, I like what you say about the redemptive nature of leadership. I feel that in every role I've ever had in ministry.

Really solid stuff, Spencer. Thanks for posting this.

I love that Heather mentions having the right shoe! What you have written here is amazing, spoken like a true runner! Your wife has added so much to this experience. She really gets it. She soaks up life with the heart of child and yet has the wisdom of someone who has been here much longer. I have lived a lot of places, met all kinds of people through travels and social work, so I am not often taken back, but Heather has had that affect on me. She is the truth, as genuine as they come, there is not enough time to explain how much I have needed to see that. God's timimg never ceases to amaze me. She trained well and was so honest through out this experience. Most people would have abandoned training with what she had on her shoulders with Owen, but she put it all into her run when she came back. It is still so hard to believe she is just getting started, but I am so excited to see where it can go. She inspired me on the 12 mile day she wanted every mile of that run. Seeing her approach running with new eyes and a willing heart has made me feel like I got to see it all over again! I thank God for our friendship everyday!

Just saw you repost this on twitter... so, what were your thoughts? DId CPC meet and/or exceed your expectations or not? Where did we win? Where did we fail?
Would love the feedback. Maybe a follow up post? Eh?

Oh, and thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it and believe in you too, Spencer. You're a good man.
